Planning your trip tomorrow to go vote? Here's a strike transit map to consult

Striking in the age of social media is... odd. With things like twitter, folks can just rapid fire their thoughts about the strike, and an offhand flippant comment between friends suddenly gets retweeted and shared and brings down hellfire. Folks dig their heels in and viewpoints get more and more extreme.

I'm not sure what you are classifying as "BS", but tensions are running super high. There are some long term unit 2 members who are super happy about the offer and are happily tweeting about voting yes. And yet a week ago we were being encouraged to vote no because unit 2 had a bad offer, unit 1 and 3 should strike in solidarity. But now that (some people) have gotten their piece of the pie, the rest of us are standing there wondering what the hell just happened and why solidarity is only a one way street.

If you feel like you are getting very little information about the strike, imagine what it feels like to hear about things via the Star rather than your own bargaining team. There's been so much cloak and daggers about this latest offer, and (as above) twitter isn't helping. When I heard that tuition indexation was suddenly off the table (via someone live tweeting yesterday's meeting), I started snarking. When I heard my bargaining team rep wasn't EVEN THE ROOM when they voted on this offer, I snarked even harder. I might have been one of the people adding to the BS, but that's the problem with social media. So much noise, and we're all feeding off each others frustration and it is turning into a hate spiral.

So the shuttle comment earlier in this thread, was partly just the few of us here shooting the shit, wondering out loud about things, making conversation, etc. But (at least for me) I was also under my breath wondering what ELSE the exec was going to fuck up. Last week's meeting had lots of notice and was well organized. This week's meeting, we didn't even know where it was until earlier this afternoon.
