Playing Mid in 7.06

not necessarily, and i swear i'm not just playing devil's advocate, so hear me out.

there's a concept in dota that is rarely touched on and people don't really understand the full magnitude of it, and that's the act of contest and denial of resources. it was especially prevalent and an important part of playing a core pre-undoing of the jungle nerf because resources were more scarce.

for tinker, he isn't like alch or sf. yes he can clear stacks, but he skills out of his way to do so.

to efficiently and reliably clear stacks, you need 1 point in rearm and at least 2 in march. at lv6, that leaves us with 3 points spread between laser/rocket, at lv7, 4 points. unless the game is going shit, you don't really want to trade the ability to contest just to accelerate your own farm.

with the absence of shrines, regen is more important and so is farm, and getting items from base to the midlane. if your tinker is dominating the lane, he should be keeping the enemy mid low with high points in laser, to the point where he can't even approach the wave without risk of being blown up. if you add march, the midlane becomes a stalement with waveclear heroes who 1. skill naturally to do so like SF 2. and can clear waves faster and better than you can because march takes time and has a long cooldown. against heroes like alch, sf, and invoker, they scale a whole lot better with items and if you can deny them their farm, you should. tinker has the ability to do so with 3 points in laser and at least 2 points in rocket just by punishing them every time they show on lane, and you really should.
