Please don’t avoid doctors because you are ashamed

Except that patient care is indeed, "part of your job".

I agree that bedside manner is not an indicator of medical competence (and I'm not saying that medical Yelp is a good idea), but dont pretend like patient care is somehow extraneous, or unnecessary, to the practice of medicine.

Given that a patient's psychological and emotional health is highly relevant to any kind of medical treatment (and is important information for many diagnoses), neglecting patient care means, fundamentally, that a doctor is not doing their job.

If a doctor's attitude or biases prevents the provision of high-quality care, it should be grounds for malpractice.
