But how about if the ‘right one’ doesn’t really exist? The problem with most methods are that there are risks involved and negative user experiences. Some people are more willing to tolerate side effects than others.

Personally: I think they’re quick to give you contraceptives and don’t spend the time telling you that there’s a small, but very serious clotting risk. Or that if you feel like shit on the injection, then you’re stuck for a while. Or when you have horrendous side effects on the implant, they don’t want to remove it.

However, I’ve had a blood clot which probably would have killed me, if my (now ex) husband wasn’t there. Both the mirena and the paragard came out. Progesterone based contraceptives don’t suit my body at all.

What’s dismissive to women is to basically make us put up with it and minimise our experiences.
