Please help!! New to game and confused! I need allot of help please!

I'm thinking is all I need is an understanding of the rules I'll look up these free rules. Anything you can tell me that I would need to know from the pay version? Would help a ton.

The SRD (System Reference Document) is 403 pages long. That's a lot, but there's much more in those physical books.

Player's Handbook is 316 pages before the character sheets. The Dungeon Master's Guide is 309 pages before Appendix C (Maps). The Monster Manual is 352 pages long. 316+309+352 = 977 pages. Yeah, there's art in those pages, but not 574 pages of wall-to-wall illustrations. The starter set gives you a decent place to start, with less content but more than the SRD.

If you know what you are doing, the SRD is OK. But as you said,

New to game and confused! I need allot [sic] of help please!

But if you want to go with the "not gonna pay for a thing" route, I'd start binging DawforgedCast, Matt Colville, and Critical Role.

The Dawnforged cast has many helpful videos, but that's nothing like having the books on hand.
