[Poetry] Uh oh

I suppose I didn't make that point clear enough, but I was agreeing that people shouldn't be criticized for assuming the wrong gender. It should be like if you're a guy and start hitting on a lesbian. A quick "Oh no, I'm gay. Sorry." is enough to clear up the situation just like "Oh no, I'm not a girl. I'm trans but haven't transitioned yet." should be enough to clear up any confusion. We're probably quite a few years off from that, but hopefully it happens.

The part that I was steadfastly disagreeing with you about was what the last commenter was disagreeing with you about. This line:

If your biological sex is female, and you dress like a girl, then you're a girl.

That is incorrect by generally agreed upon definitions of gender. If you define someone's gender as what they outwardly present as then you'd be right, but gender tends to mean what you are rather than what you look like. Saying that someone who wears dresses and has long hair is a girl is like saying that a woman who dresses in flannel with short hair is a lesbian. Just because that might be true more often than not doesn't mean it's true in every instance, and while you shouldn't be harassed for mistakenly assuming it's the case, you also can't go around saying that what someone wears determines who they are.
