Ah Brennan’s... the no pointing rule is just an arbitrary way of keeping the veneer up. The “turtle races” happened like so: 1) Four women each put a turtle in the center of a circle, within a small barrier that keeps the turtles in place. 2) The barrier is lifted. 3) When any turtle reaches the outside of the circle, whichever woman got the loudest response when putting her turtle down is declared the winner. Bending slowly at the waist is encouraged, if you get my drift. 4) The process is repeated in single elimination brackets until one “turtle” comes out as #1.

Make of that what you will, but the one time I was there for it, the announcer was enthusiastic enough to where you could believe he was legitimately keeping track of the turtles (tortoises).
