Pokemon Games Are Slowly Progressing

Sorry, misspoke in the first part. The definition of open world games is much more expansive than just BOTW and others like it. Open world games don't always look or act like BOTW. BOTW broke the mold of open world games and really set a new standard for them. I wouldn't inherently call Pokemon games open world, but when you have a sense of "free roam", you have some kind of characteristic of an open world game. I see you as taking it personally because you haven't provided any evidence that what I would like to see in the next games (which is mostly wanting better battle animations) is unpopular or even off the table. In fact, here's a quote from Junichi Masuda when asked if we would ever see an open world game using BOTW and SMO as examples.

"Well you know in general, I always want to be kind of facing new challenges and trying to you know, do new things with Pokémon. You know it's a different matter whether players will actually enjoy that kind of playstyle, but really you know, things like setting up an AI so that you know real world Pokémon appear, or different ways to appreciate the game, I'm always kind of thinking how to approach the Pokémon series from a different aspect so, in that sense, it's still on the cards."

If you want a better consensus about whether we should or if people want animated battles, here's a Reddit post that's much more detailed in it's criticism and has much more attention. Plenty of comments to go through.
