Polar just released to Netflix today. It's like Payback meets Shoot Em Up meets John Wick meets something else I can't put my finger on. Sometimes Netflix can be a hit or miss on content, but this is a must watch for action fans.

Agreed. Watched it tonight with a family of action-lovers - all disappointed. Inconsistent tone (the Losers-esque character introductions were distracting / the melodramatic drama-heavy scenes with the axe-disabled neighbor lady), the heavy's stunningly idiotic evil plan (You have a solid team of young, capable miscreants with flexible morals. Why does attempting to kill the most dangerous man you know for what should be a paltry sum for a shadowy murder-for-hire organization seem like a good use of resources?), action that - let's face it - we've all seen done better recently (like, for instance, in the lesser Wick film) and a twist reveal that immediately had all the drama sucked out of it. And I know it's part of the inconsistent tone complaint, but for Christ's sake, the incongruous breasts and asses peppered through two-thirds of the movie. Naked ladies, as lovely as they are, should be used sparingly and well. Don't paper your walls with them, it makes me cringingly embarrassed on your behalf.

Those were our main negatives. There were enough positives to keep us from turning it off. Like the outcome of the Wick-esque dog, the hallway in overalls scene or the resolution of the heavy's protection detail. Just not enough to justify a re-viewing like so many other action favorites do. My guess is that this one will fade into the morass of movies that were neither good nor bad enough to remain in memory long-term.
