Police: 11-year-old girl revived with Narcan after overdose

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was doing the usual chemo/radiation treatment. She was also taking high doses of Dilaudid among other pair killers at the time, too. A ways in, she got to the point where she was basically a zombie, couldn't focus on anything and was unaware of most things going on. It didn't help that a lot of us (her family members) were taking her care in a, so things were kinda jumbled.

One visit with one of the doctors finally alerted them to have her sent in to the ER where they used Narcan on her, I'll never forget that night.

I remember the nurse trying her best to hint that this was going to be tough to watch, that "she's not gonna like what happens next" but I just kept agreeing and didn't think to do anything else. The nurse shot the syringe into her IV and then left the room and almost immediately my mom started to become very agitated. Her agitation grew into panic and then she started to scream, she was repeating that she felt like her skin was burning and it was happening all over.

I had no idea what to do other than sit by her side and wait patiently, I wanted to hold her hand but she was flailing to much. When she went in, I had called my aunts to be there but they were just getting of of work so it took them a while to show. After what felt like an hour my mom finally started to calm down, she stopped screaming and kicking and began to talk.

Some of her first words were that she loved me and that she was so happy I was so calm with her. I was happy to have her back again but I was so shocked inside. One of my aunt's showed up and the first thing that came out of my mouth was "she's talking again" and that "that was so awful", she was confused. It was amazing and horrifying to witness and I'd never wish that on anyone. If you ever have the option to use Dilaudid, DON'T.
