To what end? It’s not even 24 hours later and they control no part of the capitol, 4 people are dead and the election was affirmed. You can’t make police this gigantic all powerful violent bogeymen (not you specifically, popular opinion on Reddit) and turn around and say those same people couldn’t hold the capitol building for more than 6 hours with thousands of people in support. It’s a complete non sequitur.

Besides this, the Mayor of DC called for a smaller police presence today, she didn’t want repeats of the 2020 summer protests. Also no other agencies were asked by the DOJ or Capitol Police (an agency that is controlled by Congress).

Police were absolutely setup to fail, once reinforcements were called they cleared everything remarkably quick.
