Police officer 'excused' after mistakenly using his gun instead of his Taser to shoot unarmed inmate in cell, DA says

What, you've never done something stupid while on autopilot, like for example unpackaging some food and then throwing away the food instead of the package, or putting the toothpaste on a different brush from your own in the morning? Seriously, what seems more likely, that the cop created this elaborate conspiracy because he was itching to shoot ANYONE before retirement, or that after decades on the force muscle memory combined with violated regulations on where to keep his taser betrayed him? When you've kept your taser right next to your gun for so long it's honestly just a matter of time before you reach for one and grab the other by mistake in the spur of the moment. It's absolutely a fuck-up on his part, but it's absolutely ridiculous to assume any intentional malice.
