[Politics] Should we consider democratic socialism?

Older generation of americans have the fuck you got mine mentality. My grandparents, aunts and uncles are like that. It sucks. This can be seen with people who experienced the second world war up to the cold war and basically hindered social progress in america. Once you attach the terms social, socialist, universal, or even community, it's regarded as bad juju. I'm actually excited that trump become president, not because he's a fucking god emperor but I really wanna see people learn from their mistake which could be really good. Americans need tough love to get their shit together.

Now ask that to a "isang kahig isang tuka" worker. The answer will be a resounding no.

This one I disagree with. I don't know what class of society you belong to OP so I can't speak for you however I can speak for my experiences. I grew up poor. Parents were not there and my grandparents income were less then 7000 pesos combined. If someone asks my grandparents if they're willing to pay higher taxes to send kids to school or to pay for people's medical bills, I have no doubt in my mind that they will say yes. First off, were already paying taxes to fund schools so that should not even be a question. We are also paying for medical bills through taxes in form of philhealth, maybe be not the best program but it helps. Taxes are calculated in percentages, not fixed amount, 30% of zero is still zero and a lot of people have that income. My community would rather cough up a few more pesos to for taxes than to see their loved ones die because they can't afford it. I went to school with a bunch of kids who died because they didn't get proper care but their cases are not severe enough to be worth of a GMA kapuso foundation endorsement and those parents will pay more taxes to make sure their kids stay alive. I don't know what you mean by isang kahig isang tuka workers because in my definition these are the people who need democratic socialist programs more than anything else. The bigger problem that we have is we don't have a well informed electorate and they keeps voting against their self interest over and over again.
