Politics vs Science

Dude, I don’t think you know Friedman at all. He was not exactly a proponent of supply side economics. Which of his policies were a joke? Was it universal basic income in the form of a negative income tax? Was it him urging the government to reduce spending and maintain a balanced budget (which they didn’t)? Because his negative income tax idea was proposed under the auspices of reducing government spending, poverty, and the reliance on welfare. Was it when he was calling for a pollution tax and increased government involvement in environmental regulation? Friedman was not a “Supply Side Economics guy”, he was a Nobel winning economist who was widely lauded for his work in monetary theory. Reagan didn’t implement his policies. He was an economics advisor. He didn’t write nor implement policy. Reagan’s policies are not his. He never made predictions, rather he calculated “rational expectations” most of which rang true. But despite this there are some here talking about how his “predictions” which he explicitly argued against making, were untrue. I’d urge you to reconsider this take after taking some time to learn about the man and his work. I’d agree with you that his hot take of corporations serving only the shareholders was terrifically wrong in many ways. Thankfully there are some corporate ethicists out there which realize the responsibilities to various stakeholders as well.
