Poll: Gay-marriage support at record high -- "61% of Americans support allowing gays to marry and 35% are opposed"

Why are people not allowed to have their own opinions anymore? Everytime I ask I get the answer "you can but that doesn't mean we won't contest it."

It's never a contest though. Everyone who disagrees with this is told that their opinion is incorrect. Everyone who understands crime statistics is told they are incorrect. Disagreeing posts get deleted, mods ban users, all for expressing the opposite view.

I know Reddit is fairly democrat/liberal, but as a libertarian I attest that there should be rights for humans, not rights for gays, rights for blacks, rights for how you live or act. If you want to get married than you should regardless of anything except being a fucking American. I also believe anyone should be able to have opposing viewpoints and not be deleted, banned, flamed and told they are outright wrong for their opinions

So how about stop making up reasons the people who disagree with you do and discuss it, if you can keep a calm mind. Ask why, and I'd bet more times than not you will find it's because the Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman. That's just about the the only reason I've ever heard.

Okay, so they have this opinion because of the religion they choose, not because they are the worst possible people imaginable with problems you love to guess at while being absolutely incorrect. I told you that you're incorrect, but I backed it up with reason why, which is the difference between the first part of this comment and how I've always been responded to.

I really wish people would just be calm and actually think about things and why they happen instead of imagining whatever hatred sounds the best and most sensational. Then again everyone wanted Obama 8 years ago but it seems like many aren't in the same boat now (pepperidge farm remembers!)

Just sayin.. American rights, not gay rights, black rights etc. and quit making up bullshit. It makes you just as bad as the people you love to make fun of.
