Why poor areas exist

Yeah, people since day one of him implying that he'd run are calling him the Canadian Trump.

This guy offered to give $1,000,000 to the province of Alberta if our (progressive) Premier (read: governor) resigned. Not to mention that that's a pathetic amount for any jurisdiction's operational costs, it's a fucking stupid publicity stunt. He had this show on the CBC where it was just him being such a cold pro capitalist blowhard and I remember him saying that "where's the global warming when I'm freezing my ass off in Canada?" I also recall him appearing on video link for a CBC interview in what I swear was his bath robe.

Oh, and while sleuthing around I found it in his own words that he might as well be the Canadian Trump:

"I know Trump. I know his family. I've watched him work. I think he's smart as a fox," he said, adding that Trump's approach to politics taps into a growing fatigue with politicians in general coupled with a desire for better management.

But crazily enough, he's been leading polls of the party membership as of late!

Fortunately, we use ranked ballots/IRV up here to elect our party leaders, so the divided field doesn't have to worry about splitting the opposition the vote but still, in circles up here we know all too well how people dismissed Trump when he first started. O'Leary has the advantage of not being as bigoted as Trump and he's a legit (albeit cold hearted) businessman so he can carry the "I'm a winner" card even more effectively.

I just can't imagine how fucked the average Joe in North America would be in a universe with President Trump and Prime Minister O'Leary.
