Poor dad, with all his effort going down in drain.

I've seen this happen way too many times. What people don't realize is that on ATVs and dirtbikes, the throttle is on the handlebars, not a foot pedal like in a car. So when you take off and it goes a little faster than you were expecting your natural instinct is to clamp down on those handlebars to keep from falling off. Unfortunately, this also means you're clamping down on the throttle, which makes the problem worse. At that point, you KNOW you need to let go of the throttle and grab the brakes, but it's damn near impossible in that moment of panic without also letting go of the handlebars and falling off. Which is why a lot of people can only focus on holding on and trying to steer away from things. You can see she tries to steer away from the deck, realizes she has steered straight towards the pool and then tries to go back the other way only to hit the grill and the side of the house.
