I personally felt he let some stuff go to his head which isn't all his fault, fame does that to the best of people. A lot of how he interacted with myself and some team mates left a sour taste in my mouth. The special treatment he received was kind of shitty for the rest of us and actually hindered my practice time. Phelps could do no wrong so it was pretty much all blamed on our side.

I've written about this stuff in other posts but the tldr of it was pretty much all special treatment he got over my club team in Michigan while training at the University there. Like he was a guest and he was not the best guest. Not entirely his fault but he didn't stand up for what was clearly overstepping boundaries. Again, I'm not saying I hate the guys guts. It kind of goes with that whole "don't meet your hero's" idea
