Pope Francis to parents of L.G.B.T. children: ‘God loves your children as they are.’

Of what the Bible was really talking about

Yeah, this happens from time to time. When people get more progressive suddenly the bible stops meaning that women are property and slaves are okay when it says women are property and slaves are okay.

but much of it boils down to the translation of one specific term form Aramaic or Greek (or something like that) when there wasn’t really a good similar meaning.

Ah, classic. A single word caused untold suffering, the prosecution of countless people leading to exclusion, torture, and execution but it's just an oopsies and we should totally forgive them because they just mistranslated one word.

It's not like there were hundreds of years of people who fluently speak these languages studying the content and never saying a single thing until the religions very existence was threatened by it's barbarism. Nor that the entire content has been proven to be cherry picked, revised, and sometimes straight up made up by an organization that directly profited in both money, land, and power for a millennium.

If one word written across several pieces of text can fundamentally mistranslate an ideology to such a degree, maybe there's something wrong with following it as religious dogma. It's a shame an all powerful God couldn't have cleared it up in the past 2000 years by beaming the knowledge directly into our minds.
