Portrait of a traditional American family

You do realize that the Union Army invaded and attacked the Confederacy because they voted to leave the country, right?

You realize that the Confederacy wanted to secede because they felt like the federal government was overstepping their rights when it came to creating laws, right?

History is always written by the victors, so that's all anyone outside of the South will ever remember or be taught, but please understand that there were people on both sides who felt like they were fighting for a just cause.

Also, please don't take this comment as me saying that what happened in the pre-civil war South was right. I do not condone human slavery. My point is that people fought in that war. People who had families back home. Fathers, sons, and brothers. If a small town wants to remember those people I think they should have that right.
