Is it possible to be a good streamer with very minimal equipment? (Like Xbox One Kinect and headset only)

I stream only from my xbox one. I just use the Kinect Camera, and Xbox mic they include when you buy the console. The mic quality isn't studio quality, but it is not shit. The camera isn't great, but it is not shit. I have enough bandwidth to stream at a higher setting, but after everything I've read, and tested myself, 2000 is the recommended highest ysetting on xbox one streaming, until you are partnered. (if you do auto test and it says 2500 recommended, ignore that, mine does too).

I have been streaming since March 1st ish. Everything I have (views, regulars, followers) has been done from xbox one. It isn't great numbers, but it is also not bad numbers. I am happy with how I am growing, please do not think I am complaining at all.

The problems I have being an xbox one only streamer (these are only my personal problems I have with xbox one only streaming, YMMV):

  1. I can't do song requests. I have the bot to handle it (deepbot, or a free one, nightbot), but I can't do song requests because xbox one twitch app can't do that.

  2. I cannot have an overlay, at all.

  3. I cannot have a green screen. So my camera shows TOO much. On a computer, I could use zoom, and have it further away.

  4. If I ever want to stream a NES, SNES, GENESIS, etc... game, I cannot. That sucks.

  5. if you ever make it, and become partnered, and eventually decide to switch to PC twitch streaming (even still streaming xbox one games, but through a PC) all your loyal regulars may not follow you over to the PC. Or they might. Who knows. But, you will lose some.

  6. Switching games on the xbox one takes my stream offline. If I was on a PC, I could switch games, and not go offline. Therefore keeping the viewers while I make the switch to a different game. As it stands now, I lose a few viewers when I switch games. It is from a variety of factors, not just because I went offline. My point is, this is another thing that could make viewers leave your channel, where they wouldn't leave if you streamed from a PC.

I love streaming, I stream everyday since March. I am not dissuading you from streaming from xbox one. You will find these things out yourself. I am thinking of making the switch over to PC soon, and these reasons I listed are why.

GOOD LUCK!! Stay positive! Stay consistent! And spray and neuter your pets.
