Is it possible to "recover" from schizophrenia without medication?

It's incredibly difficult. You have to put in a lot of effort into constantly analyzing yourself to investigate the source of the fracture in your psyche. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia for 2 years, and when I showed sudden strong signs of recovery they got confused about how it happened and downgraded it to Bi-Polar with psychotic features. I was on 8 medications at the time. Much later I was apart of a cult-like recovery group that thought you weren't sober if you were on meds. I haven't been on them since, and I left that group when the fog cleared and I saw it for what it was. I'm in and out of psychosis, but I'm putting in a lot of work and reading a lot of different material, investigating the root causes of the delusions. I should not be able to recover from how "far out" I went into fragmented insanity. I want to say my recovery is as much of a fluke as what caused it, but I also want to believe that I'll be able to help people once I'm where I want to be.
