Is it possible to be a walk-on D1 Kicker with no Experience?

My friend played for the Nebraska soccer team and ended up walking on to be the kicker. He started for one or two years as well

There was actually a point where I thought about walking on at Alabama as a kicker (also played soccer my whole life) because our kickers were routinely missing 30 yard FGs. I was hitting 55+ pretty easily but the trajectory on the ball was way too low. All my kicks would’ve been blocked in a real game. Try practicing with a regulation sized soccer goal about 7 yards in front of you. It acts as a DLine. Blasting long FGs is easy, but blasting long FGs with proper elevation is pretty tough. But if you practice you can do it for sure
