Post Game Chat 5/22 Mariners @ Rangers

I agree with the guys sentiment but I think there's some of it that's misplaced. I think it would be a huge mistake to keep Domingo and Haniger. Mitch less so, because I think he plays a good outfield, but Juilo and Kelenic best damn be playing for our MLB squad. Braden Bishop is a fringe 4th outfielder. I like Fraley. I think Mallex is better than he has demonstrated but I also think we have better options. Also Dom Thompson floating around down there. Kyle Lewis is approaching bust status, albeit only 23.

Marco has never inspired me. I think you might be generous calling him a number 2. I'm not even sure he's our best pitcher right now. I think Kikuchi is starting to perhaps be the best on our staff at the moment. In my opinion, Gilbert very well might be our highest ceiling pitcher. It's admittedly too early to say that, and I'm not trying to fanboy on his start to this season, but he's a 6'6" presence that throws mid 90s and has a dirty curve. Plus, you know, Stetson (Thor and Kluber). It's arguable that Gilbert will look more like the real Thor by the time he matures a bit more too.

I like Dunn and Sheffield both, but I'm very concerned about their ability to stay in the rotation and out of the bullpen. More so with Sheff. Hope I'm wrong.

More than anything, fuck Ryon Healy as any kind of permanent solution. Hell, I'd rather resign seager to a short term deal and I hate that idea. Our best 3B prospect is Joe Rizzo. It's not the most exciting name, but he's having a good season in Modesto. He's only 21 though.

Rounding back to the first paragraph, and even though this is heresy and I hate myself for saying it, I really struggle to buy Vogey as a legitimate option at DH. If we keep Domingo, it's not to play in the outfield. It's to crush dingers over Edgar's Cantina in the 4 spot as a DH.

Don't sweat about bullpen so much. I know it's more important now than pretty much ever, but I also think that's the easiest thing to "fix". We'd have to spend some cash, but we're going to have plenty to do so.
