Totally arbitrary player ratings:
Guzan - 7. Not much he could have done to stop the two goals, made some big stops. All in all, I'm happy with Guzan's performance.
Garza - 8. Had a lot of space, but didn't get the ball when he needed it. If the passes to him were better, we would have won.
Parkhurst - 5. Pretty underwhelming night for Parky. He didn't pass the ball very well, but was okay on defense.
Gonzalez Pirez - 6. I've seen better from LGP, but I've also seen worse. He made some pretty dumb fouls when Philly parked the bus.
Walkes - 3. Walkes's last few starts have been quite ugly. He brings nothing of value to the attack, although made a few good tackles.
Larentowicz - 6. Jeff made a number of positive contributions in the midfield. It wasn't exceptional, but it was good enough.
McCann - 5. In the first have he was solid, but in the second, he made several horrid passes, and took a very selfish shot from way out.
Asad - 7. I thought he did well in center midfield, and scored a critical goal. Unfortunately, he was clearly exhausted by the 70th minute.
Almiron - 6. Putting Miggy on the wing clearly limited him, but he began to show a spark late in the second half.
Villalba - 5. He was responsible for Alberg's goal, and didn't do much on the attack, although that may have been due to Walkes's struggles.
Martinez - 4. Where is the real Josef and what did you do with him? This was nothing like the striker we saw in June and July.
Gressel - 6. Made an immediate positive impact after he came on, and brought some much needed energy to the midfield.
Peterson - 5. He wasn't on long enough to do much, and was pretty invisible. I would have preferred that we brought on Vasquez.
Mears - 8. Man of the Match for sure. I was supportive of benching Mears earlier, but after Walkes's recent struggles, perhaps he should return to the first 11.
