Predisone on girlfriend of 4 years. please help.

I'll start by clearing up that I am no MD. I found this link that informs a little bit about Prednisone,

https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-6007-9383/prednisone-oral/prednisone-oral/details

One of the side effects of that drug are mood swings. In the previous article, it is said that "Some conditions may become worse when this drug is suddenly stopped." The side effect plus the sudden stop on the treatment might be an explanation on her current behavior.

Has she ever behaved like this before or is it the first time? Did she mix the Prednisone with another drug by any chance? I know you mention she isn't herself, but have you observed in the time you have live together any possible changes in her personality? It seems this is no longer a physiological problem, but a mental problem, and these are intimately connected. Has she ever had a drug problem before? You don't need to answer these questions since I believe they are personal, but I think it could be a good start on trying to understand this outcome. I am not trying to be disrespectful nor create any mistrust between you. However, I've been with friends in which the situation on a sudden change in behavior turned out to be the consumption of drugs behind their backs.

It is terrifying seeing a love one behave differently from what they used to. It is ok to feel that way, but you also need to keep your head cool on this. Take her to a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Following what you have mentioned, it seems they are the ones that can provide better input on her dramatic change in personality. I really hope everything turns out well for you.
