Prefer Lp9 to any other Radiohead album on first listen

Agreed. Reckoner and most of The Bends have been the only others that I've liked immediately.

I usually cycle through love/hate cycles several times. Some artists' music I don't listen to as much as I have a relationship with. For example, I'm still working my way through the later parts of the REM discography, 30+ years after the first time I saw them live. I'm up to Collapse Into Now, and then I don't know what I'll do without a new REM record to process into my being.

I'm already, very very slightly and very early, starting to dislike a couple of the songs. I'm mildly tired of Burn The Witch, but I've listened to it at least 200 times since it came out, not even exaggerating. And Present Tense is currently 2nd favorite song, when this morning it didn't make such an immediate impact.

I love what they did with Identikit -- I didn't really like it live as much as other songs. But on record it is amazing. It's beautiful. Reckoner is in the same boat for me, it is one of their 2 or 3 most beautiful things they've ever done, but live it doesn't do it for me as much as it does on record. Pyramid Song is one I liked but didn't love on the record, but I am never prepared for the gut punch Pyramid Song is live.

My favorite one on this record is True Love Waits. It was worth the wait. I love every version I've ever heard, but the version they captured for this album is possibly more beautiful than Reckoner. I went to eat and then to the grocer and I couldn't listen to the record version of True Love Waits in the car. It sounds like hyperbole but the song guts me. It probably means different for me than it does for others. I'm retired and not in good health at all, and it's like, they could stop now because True Love Waits is the capstone. What else is there to do after what they have done with True Love Waits? It's like, it's now OK if my heart finally does give out.

This has been a hugely emotional day, it's like the record was a key to a door without a lock. And True Love Waits is what's waiting on the other side.
