Preliminary Injunction Ordered against Georgetown’s Joshua Leblanc

DC lawyers can correct me, but generally speaking a preliminary injunction is actually harder to get than a restraining or protective order.

In my jurisdiction you can obtain a 60 day protective order from family court relatively easily, and it’s typically reserved for domestic violence situations where the victim testifies to feeling physically threatened. (I’m not saying it’s “easy” to discount the victims; I’m just saying that, having worked in family court, dozens of these things come down every week, which itself is a sad fact).

This is a preliminary injunction from superior court (ie, NOT family court but a more stereotypical trial court). A P.I. usually issues after a full hearing and briefing from the parties. The order mentions the “record” which suggests to me that this has more weight (and lawyers) than a typical DV proceeding.
