Premier calls Jyoti Gondek's plan to declare a climate emergency 'peculiar'

My own random recent thoughts on Calgary:

Should we Rezone some(20-30%) DT office/commercial space to residential and business space?

Cancel the green line. It's a massive black hole of money labor and time, and if built and we flood again DT, poof!

Just add more Green/fuel-efficient buses to the transit fleet and keep training safe drivers? Buses are more flexible than trains.

Fund the Fire Dept. EMS, Fire and Police are essential services. Whose brilliant idea was it to cut the Fire dept budget while insisting on starting the massive and incoherent+impossible Green Line? Sack them.

b/c Anarchy is only a cool idea(to some) until you're actually living in it, and of the people around the world who do actually live in dystopian chaos, many of them would move here if they could.

Mayors of cities can't declare global climate emergencies, it's really a strange first move to make, even if Calgary is a major city. Look up how big of an environmental impact all of Canada makes on the world(less than 10% of emissions). I have seen stats that say we wouldn't make any difference in slowing climate change even if we switched to huddling together for warmth in hide shelters. The US, China, India, Russia, Brazil, and France have the world's fate in their hands.

Let's just keep the city clean and functioning? Fund social services/small businesses, keep emergency services working, and keep pushing COVID down? Calgary isn't a bad city overall, especially if we continue to help those among us who are in crisis or poverty to prevent the worst outcomes and increase all of our standards of life.

Compassionate people do live much better lives in my experience(as opposed to cruel/selfish people). Best wishes YYC!
