what is really scaring me here is that i'm pretty sure the majority of both sides don't want to defuse this bomb at this point. i think people want to have this conflict, whatever that means.

this shit is so fucking Weimar people. i mean i minored in German studies and i have always hated how everyone compares every political situation to something related to the Nazis and/or WW2 because it's almost always heavily exaggerated, but we are in the US version of the Weimar Republic, in the new 20s no less.
