Pretending you're someone else

I do that quite a lot, I even try and adapt to the way they talk, what phrases and sayings they would use. I done it a lot with my grandad who's not in my life, but I seem to have an admiration for him as being a cool guy who was always well-dressed with the moustache and brushed back hair, a flirt and catch with the women.

I think it's because, from my view, we perceive them as being better than us; we place them on a pedestal and to make ourselves feel better about the life we have, which we aren't satisfied with - so we change like a chameleon to try and mimic them.

It's not just my grandad, that was an example. I've also pretended I was a character from a movie, a favourite footballer, a singer.
