I find the prevailing "anti-PC" sentiment from Harris, and in this high quality community, to be very discouraging.

people aren't generally anti-pc. people are generally against pc culture. i imagine most people here are of the mind that marginalized people need to be helped. i also credit this community by assuming they know better than to think that to lift people out of their unfortunate circumstances we must first ridicule or tear down certain groups of other people. the face of political correctness today, however, happily wears that hat. if you don't agree with a sliver of what the culture stands for, you are just a nazi. if you aren't a marginalized person or female, you are a nazi. that is the reality of the term "pc" right now. i believe that to better help marginalized people it is best to understand what to address in order to help each group of them specifically, because they all have different needs. what is not helpful is the amorphous slab of marginalized people saying "fuck white men" and the media machine driving it, and, again, that is the message of pc culture right now. we don't hear "raise the few", we hear "fuck these people". at the end of the day, pc culture is wearing a badge of hatred, blame, and suppression of free speech, and that's not a combination that says anything good of the bearer.
