Previews for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl have been released

Nah they do, but it's very limited. They know who their target audience is, and it's certainly not /r/nintendo or /r/pokemon. Whatever attention they give the fans is like a bonus. The games mainly sell to kids, so of course they're going to give attention to what they want and how they're playing games.

It's obviously going to irk the fans that games like Sword and Shield are trying to be like Fortnite, but they aren't the target audience. Game Freak and The Pokemon Company give the kids of today the same attention they gave everyone else when they were ten and their older siblings/friends thought Pokemon was dumb... Or maybe even liked it at one point, but felt like it lost its magic and "went downhill" around the time they hit adolescence.
