Previous EV Owners: How do you like your Tesla?

Current LEAF 2015 owner* and recent Model X owner.

Things I like about the LEAF: * It's cheap enough that I don't really worry about dings, scratches, curb bumps, or whatever. * Its range has never been a problem for around-town driving. * Jumping in and pulling it out onto the road feels like it's no big deal. Just hit the button, shift into drive, and zoom. * Acceleration is not bad. Maneuverability is pretty good.

Things I don't like about the LEAF: * It's not the safest car out there, which does worry me a bit. * Can barely make it to my parents' house that's 77 miles away through the mountains. I've done it a couple of times, but the car's running on proverbial fumes near the end. * Not enough seats for the whole family when the grandparents visit.

Things I like about the Model X: * Six seats. Perfect for when the grandparents visit and we all want to go out somewhere. * Uber-safe. That matters more and more to me. * Luxury look and feel. * Real range. Can actually consider taking it on a road trip.

Things I don't like about the Model X: * I'm further north, so this time of year the sun tends to be lower. It can be quite annoying at times for it to blast through the upper portion of the huge windshield. * Starting it up and driving away feels like a more "heavy-weight" operation. Still a hell of a lot less than my ICE car, but more than my LEAF. * I can imagine the slow falcon-wing doors will get old after a few months. With old-fashioned boring doors, kids can just pop them open and jump in or out. * My wife gets pissed at me if I accelerate too fast or take a corner too hard, so it's hard to appreciate the performance.

*actually, I'm leasing it, and given how much it's depreciated I'm glad I went that route.
