IS this priest deck viable?

Do I just suck?

No. You don't. However, I think you need to overlook your deck and your playstyle a bit.

I've been playing Control Priest since the beta where Priests were considered trash tier, and when cards like Dark Cultist came out with Naxx, and thus gained viability and became a top tier deck. The deck concept hasn't changed a lot, but the cards have however. And the deck has a lot of cards that work together in different ways.

First of all, we have to look at how the deck works and the meta. Control Priest is a deck which uses different card combos and a lot of AOE to control the board. Thus it becomes a great deck to deal with aggressive decks who spam out a lot of minions. Such as Secret Paladin and Zoo. A lot of those decks are common in the meta, and thus Control Priest can be very good. However, it's a pretty slow deck, and decks that can abuse that (Control Warrior and Combo Druid) will be very favored against you.

This is the decklist that too me to legend this month. I could talk about every specific card and their use, but that would be a very long write, and the cards serve different purposes in different matchups.

As you can see, there are some cards that are very strong by their own. Like Museum Curator and Sludge Belcher. (However I've cut one Belcher for Harrison, but that's a meta call of me) Those cards you play when you can, and they do their thing.

Then there are some other cards which are synergy dependant. Like Circle of Healing for example. It's used to clear the board with Soulpriest. It's used to draw cards with Cleric, get a 4/7 on turn 3 with Blademaster, etc. If you were to cut all those cards, Circle of healing wouldn't serve enough purpose to be in the deck. And thus you can cut it.

One great combo the decklist uses is to play Deathlord and follow it up with Velen's Chosen, giving you a 4/12 with taunt on turn 3/4, which is insanely good. You can see how this causes troble for those aggressive minion based decks, huh? However, you don't run Deathlords in your deck. Then Velen's Chosen is a considerably weaker card. Maybe it's not even good enough to be run anymore? Then you might replace it with say, Dark Cultists?

There are so many good cards for this deck that isn't run in my decklist. Such as Dark Cultist, Vol'Jin, Holy Smite, Shrinkmeister, Shadow Madness, Mind Control, etc. With so many cards being considered and only 30 cards that make the deck, you need to make sure that every card matters and serves a purpose. Like, if I were to play Shrinkmeister in my deck. Then I would probably have to run 2 Cabal, Shadow Madness to make it combo and thus being a great fit.

Also you need to consider your curve. Injured Blademaster, Dark Cultist, Deathlord, Velen's Chosen are all great 3 cost cards in the deck. However, running them all would stuff it with 3-drops. So you need to make some cuts. I think that for this meta, doing the Deathlord+Velen's thing is what I think is
