Lol. I think most artists take time to break away from the mould that major music labels make them out to be. Vanessa Carlton is another example (who was surprisingly dating John Mayer at one time), her last two albums are literally a thousand miles away from the bubble gum song that she's known for. Lol. But if you dig deeper, you will notice her debut album (be not nobody) from which A Thousand Miles was released was far from mainstream. People compared her to Tori Amos back then. It's taken a while, but I think her last two albums Rabbits on the Run and Liberman are finally her own sound. Her new album Love is an Art drops soon. I'm dying to hear what she's come up with now.
