Princess Eugenie’s reported £2m wedding bill – which is being footed by taxpayers – should be paid by her father, a UK Labour MP has said. Princess Eugenie is ninth in line to the throne and carries out no royal duties.

The article is says "Eugenie is understood to have demanded an open top carriage ride as part of the nuptials." Hmmmmm. I'd love to know if that is true and if true, if it's the whole story. People do typically expect to get to see the happy couple following a royal wedding. That carriage ride is more for the people who line the streets than it is for the bride and groom. I wonder if Eugenie is concerned about back-lash if there isn't a carriage ride? I also recollect that Prince Charles has given indications that he plans to cut Beatrice and Eugenie off the civil list (e.g. Gov't payroll for personal appearances the do on behalf of the royal family) once he is king -- an announcement that REALLY pissed off their father, Prince Andrew. So I wonder if it is Andrew who's insisting that his children be granted all the rights and courtesies to which they are entitled as granddaughters of the Queen.
