Private James Hendrix of the 101st Airborne, playing guitar at Fort Campbell, 1962.

Barbiturates+alcohol carries negative interactions with the body. I worked for a medical/pharma company which stated very clearly as part of their interactions and effects labeling to not mix the pharmaceuticals with alcohol, for a good reason. (See Jimmy Hendrix) sleeping pills OD with a mixture of alcohol will slowly stop organs. Suicide by sleeping pills holds incredible notoriety, but is an incredibly dumb way to off yourself because let's say you down one bottle. You're not going to die, rather, just put yourself into a coma, your survival rate is actually on the higher side, but you've done damage to your organs regardless and they have to pump your stomach, hopefully minimizing organ damage. Let's say you take three bottles of sleeping pills, your organs stop. Your brain stops communicating with vital organs like kidneys, liver, lungs, heart, all of this happens slowly and painfully while you're in a delirious state of downward spiraling. Consumption of alcohol creates nerve damage and can also cause seizures just from trying to shake the chemical dependency. You can die from actually quitting alcohol. Ever had the shakes post benders of alcohol? Your body is readjusting and this hard on the brain. You can gain nerve damage from alcohol.

Hendrix would've had a mixture of these two chems in his body which the body simply can't fucking handle, so youre partly right, one glass of wine won't have the grim reaper taking your head, but sleeping pills and alcohol combined are a volatile mix and we've seen time and time again as to why you don't mix them together.

I'll stick to my fuck drugs sentiment, my fellow, gotta be right because this is Reddit comrade.
