Pro or against self-diagnosis

I’m just tired of young teens getting mad at TikTok and bringing it here and yelling at adults who post here who are too old and/or not rich enough for professional diagnosis. This is not TikTok. If you have a problem with TikTok, tell the people on TikTok. Most people who post here do not go to TikTok.

I am old enough and working class enough that no one in the rural working class schools I went to probably even knew what autism was, much less suspect that a quiet girl who tested well and got good grades could have it.

Also I keep hearing stories about needing evidence from your parents from when you were young. My father died when I was seven and my mother is in her early 70s and her memory is going - she texts me every night asking if I know that my brother let his neighbors move in with him. There’s no way she remembers a lot of specific details about my childhood, other than what she often repeats about how I was so quiet that it bothered her.

Leave TikTok on TikTok please.
