The idea of spin putting (and missing) is a little scary to those who don’t. I dated someone who is a firm push putter and got wildly criticized, to the point of just changing my putt to a ‘spush’ after becoming extremely self conscious. If I missed I was possibly in trouble with a long comeback, but the risk was almost always worth it because I was way more accurate to begin with. I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment about speed control. spin putting is a great tool if you have the mechanics worked out to be consistent and know how much spin to give it, especially for female players who don’t have enough ‘oomph’ with a push putt outside 20’.
