True, a baseball at 90 mph might kill you if it hits you in the head. That said, baseball players get hit all the time. For the most part, depending on where it hits you, it just going to leave a bruise.

Some other comparisons: a paintball gun shoots at 160+ mph. A BB gun fires a steel pellet close to 1000 mph. To be sure, these things can be dangerous, but depending on the distance, even a BB is unlikely to cause any serious injury through a pair of jeans or a thick jacket. (Please do not test at home, kids!)

Still, all the examples above would at least sting like hell, so I would expect a similar pain reaction from the OP if it was indeed a meteorite. Maybe someone else who knows more about metereorites could comment, but I suspect there would be some other obvious signs as well?
