Proclamation of the Family

Are you trying to make some sort of point? You literally might as well be linking us some codex of beliefs from the Southern Baptists or some other evangelical sect, they don't differentiate all that much in regard to rigid gender roles in a patriarchal society.

No one who is exmo or nevermo thinks that the LDS church is led by anything but a gerontocracy which is stuck in the 1950's nuclear family ideal which has functionally evaporated in the decades since. It's also a call to a non-existent golden age. I would really rather not go back to the era where we had racial segregation and rampant discrimination (more so than now).

Your church follows cultural trends, it does not set them. You watch. Fifteen or twenty years from now, they'll reverse course on LGBT issues and try to throw the bigoted views of the current leaders down the memory hole. There might even be a "disavowal" of bigoted beliefs as the result of men of their time. Your church is not inspired in its thinking else it would be leading the charge for equality and beneficial social change. Instead it entrenches until it's forced to move positions. It is consistently dragged kicking and screaming into modernity years after most everyone else has adapted. It clearly is not any more inspired than any fundamentalist evangelical church as it holds many of the same views as those churches.

As if we have not read the Proclamation to the Family... some of us even have had it hanging on our walls. What would take some courage is if you would go and read all of the essays at mormonessays.com and come back with some questions rather than try to passive aggressively insist through your link that you're right. Your church is based upon sand regardless of if you're ready or ever will be to see it. Joseph Smith was a con man and I see no reason to put any stock in him or any of those who followed him. He got fame, power, sex and money from his position, and people have been motivated to do unethical things for just portions of what he got.
