Producers who consistently make money from beats or type beats

I can’t say I really know the way things work when it comes to beats. My producers work with artists direct, but in the past I’ve had some work with SZA early on. What I think every producer should do is find talent and offer beats for free if there’s no budget, take publishing on the song and production credit. Just build up a resume of quality artists on your beats. Eventually people will come to you. You’ll get meetings with A&R’s at labels, etc..

I know spec work is frowned upon but it’s how I got many of my clients ahead. I constantly put my clients in with young talent I think will do well on blogs and I don’t mind if the production fee is cheap.. I ask for more on the backend.

Be your own talent scout, seek out talent and try to collab. It’s easier said than done. If you look at many producers that came out of nowhere, they developed projects early on.

The selling or leasing beats hustle is something I don’t understand so I apologize if I come off ignorant. Everyone has bills to pay. A combination of both could be worthwhile.
