If I get a zit, I do the alcohol swab dab, just to disinfect it and the small area around it, then cleanse right after. Alternately, you can cleanse and use benzoyl peroxide, which kills acne bacteria. If it's nowhere near my eyes which are sensitive and it's day time I go ahead and use the BP method. I use the alcohol swab if it's near my forehead or upper part of my face for fear that the BP might migrate into my eyes. Also I don't leave BP on overnight for the same reason and since it bleaches fabric.
