[Product Question] To moisturize or not to?

Cleansing, exfoliating and SPF are really important but so is moisturizing. I wonder if these articles were referring to really humid climates? Even then it hurt to use a light moisturize.

I live in a dry climate so if I didn't apply moisturizer my skin would be get really tight. I just read the Caroline Hiron's Skin Care book and she sums things up like this: Cleanse with a non foaming cleanser (you can use an oil cleanser before if you want to wash away sunscreen) then exfoliate with a acid toner, apply a serum, moisturizer and then SPF. It's a bit overwhelming I agree but in the end, a moisturizer will always been a good idea, even if you like in a humid climate.
