Are there bad people in your culture? Do they represent you? Do you know many Muslims? This is horrible, not defending this in any way, but I do have a group of kind Muslim friends from restrictive countries who helped me stay sober earlier this year when I developed a bad allergy to alcohol and needed to stop. They did not try to convert me though they were open about their religion and culture. And while there are things I definitely don’t like and I wouldn’t necessarily want to live there, I didn’t find much judgment of me and there are admirable things about their culture such as how they take care of their family members when sick, aging, or disadvantaged in some way. They also treat strangers and guests very well. It would be shameful not to in gulf countries. They mostly seemed to be what I would call normal, polite people who looked after their friends? Impoverished people in many cultures do things to survive that we find distasteful and wrong. I know you’ll downvote (others too) but wanted to say it anyway to thank those friends for helping me. I learned things from the experience, not all good or all bad. People are people at the end of the day. This video does not represent every Muslim in the world.
