Pros and cons of buying an ex-council house

With ex council flats the main problem is you can get huge bills out the blue at any time that aren't anything to do with your service charge. And as the freeholder is local authority/a housing association you have fewer rights than if the freeholder was private.

Depending on whether this house involves buying the freehold will determine whether this is relevant in your case. If it's a leasehold house I'd think twice.
