Pros/Cons of Public School

It depends on your school district and what your philosophy is. I would have chosen to attend public school, except covid happened. Our school district is very good and since its also super competitive, I started homeschooling to prepare my child for kindergarten; we learned to read, spell and our math facts, but we wound up not attending. Right now at home, we are doing first grade reading materials and second grade math and I'm not confident that if I sent my child to the local school that we wouldn't be held back for another year of kindergarten; we didn't progress as fast as I hoped. Based on your description, your child would be on track to enter and be successful in kindergarten for our district. Tutoring is huge business where I am, even at the K-2 level, because the amount of material the children are expected to learn is enormous once they enter public school. Every school district is different.

I'm very intent on sending my kids to public school because the level of education is excellent and better than I can offer becuase I'm also working full time and I don't have the dedication that I know I should have to teach at that level. So, in my mind, we're still doing kindergarten work. Oh well. I'm doing my best, but it is so exhausting.
