Prospective student in Atlanta this week

Midtown is gonna be expensive as hell for broom closets as well as roommates. You can go to one of the lively surrounding areas that are about a 5-10 minute drive away where you can find affordable housing in places such as Bankhead, college park, or home park, all of which will make you question your safety daily. Then there's tech itself. Most of the people I know, myself included that are finishing up their time here fucking hate it. Don't underestimate that statement. A kid just killed himself like a week or so ago and that's only one of many. Imagine studying for weeks only to show up to the exam and score a 60...around the class average on an exam in any given class. Now imagine that happens in every single class, every semester and you're starting to get a little prepared. Also, no one special recruits for jobs here and literally every single position you hear about at career fairs etc you can also get from another school. People will tell you that you're guaranteed a good job with a tech degree but that's also bullshit as well. In short, you'll have a better GPA which means better job offers and a much better time at another school. I too bought all the marketing hype and bullshit about tech...then got here. Yes there are some amazing things going on around here but you'll only be allowed to work with profs on research if you get an A or B in their class. What else? Oh yea the super-rude prison release assholes working at every food place in the student center will t yell at you and cop an attitude with you in a heartbeat if you do anything crazy like look at the menu for a moment, ask a question, or generally act like you haven't eaten at their little shithole kiosk every day for the past month. Then there's the transportation. There seems to be a lot of buses until you get left at a stop because when it rolled up it was packed full, several times a week. Seriously, forget what you've heard from the tech marketing team that is trying to make $60k-$150k off of you by recruiting you and go talk to some people in the student center etc. It's miserable here. The ramblin wreck isn't a damn car, that's a cute little parade toy so they don't have to admit that the wreck is you bro, every couple of weeks when an exam is coming around. If I could do it all over again the only thing I would change is going to school here...seriously fuck this place.
