Protective papa keeping watch.

I completely understand that and don’t want to make it seem as if I don’t support adoption - both of my dogs are adopted! Adoption is an amazing act that changes lives and yes, in this day and age, it’s crucial. But I still stand by my opinion that in the grand scheme of things, the amount of people carelessly letting their dogs have a bunch of puppies and people purchasing said puppies just to repeat the process AND the amount of people adopting from shelters is about the same, and it’s always going to be an endless cycle of back and forth unless strict laws come into place against backyard breeding/puppy mills. I guarantee to you the overpopulation problem is rooted in BYBs and puppy mills, not reputable breeders. But in this specific case I can’t advocate for that person getting a French Bulldog as IMO there are no reputable breeders of that breed... the breed in and of itself is a monstrosity filled with health issues, and all breeders of French Bulldogs are in the same league as BYBs in my book. You’re only a responsible breeder if you are breeding for the healthiest dogs possible and the betterment of the breed, not if you’re breeding for cuteness and getting some profit.
